Marcus earned his Bachelor of Arts from Washington University in St. Louis, and received his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University School of Law.

Experience & Advocacy
Marcus launched his legal career as a prosecutor in Marion County, Indiana, where he specialized in domestic violence cases. He then gained civil litigation experience as an associate at a prominent firm practicing across Illinois and Missouri before returning to Georgia to pursue his passion for prosecution.
Over the next 13 years, Marcus served in the Clayton County Solicitor General’s Office, the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, and the Henry County District Attorney’s Office. His roles included senior-level responsibility for managing felony dockets, supervising trial strategy, and handling cases in Georgia’s most complex judicial circuits.
As Associate Magistrate Judge in Clayton County — appointed October 2018 and reappointed December 2023 — Marcus currently presides over civil and criminal matters, issuing rulings that carry the force of law.
Leadership & Recognition
Marcus serves as President of the Clayton County Bar Association, and is also a member of the Georgia Trial Lawyers of America and the Lawyers Club of Atlanta.
Marcus has dedicated 15 years to coaching Georgia’s High School Mock Trial Competition, and is a donor to Atlanta Legal Aid, supporting access to justice for those who cannot afford representation.
